How Little River's Online and Retail Gaming Connectivity Excited Early Michigan Sports Betting Trends

27 September 2026

In January 2021, Rush Street Interactive delivered a positive assessment of its early online gaming and sports betting experience in Michigan. The company had paired its online presence with the Little River Casino Resort in Manistee, a tribal establishment that became one of the standout examples of synergy between retail gaming and online betting.

Under its BetRivers online casino brand and River Rock Sportsbook at the property, Little River demonstrated how a tribal casino can combine a steady brick-and-mortar base with digital play. The Michigan Gaming Control Board in 2022 reported Little River as having 1,100 gaming machines, table games and a sportsbook, with the property maintaining 24-hour operations.

According to 2022 records, BetRivers generated $104.3 million in online casino revenue that year, plus $4 million in online sports betting. The sports betting total was attributed to River Rock Sportsbook.

Recent industry coverage consistently positions Little River as a significant casino destination. As one report noted, "Little River stands among northwest Michigan casino properties offering legal sports betting," including its ongoing partnership with River Rock Sportsbook and operator BetRivers.

The connection between digital platforms and physical locations continues driving attention to the property. One expansion in March saw BetRivers enhance its retail presence within Little River's third-floor gaming area through a deal designed to boost foot traffic.

This approach reflects Rush Street Interactive's original strategy for Michigan. "The success of this launch reaffirms the power of our partnership with Little River Casino Resort and that our model of integrated brands can deliver results in regulated markets," the company stated in January 2021.

Michigan gaming regulations allow casinos to count online revenue toward total property earnings, creating financial incentives for operators that bridge digital and physical gaming experiences.
